After years of accounting experience, he worked for Columbus Regional Healthcare Systems in Columbus, Ga. where he served as a senior financial analyst.  He was responsible for financial reporting,  budgets, capital expenditures, and medicade/medicare reimbursement.  CRHS is a multifaceted healthcare company consisting of multiple hospitals, long term care facilities, and physician practices.

Harrelson continued his financial career at Callaway Garden's Resorts, Inc. in Pine Mountain, GA serving as the company's controller.  Managing a staff of over forty professionals, his office was responsible for payroll, accounts receivable/payable, audits, financial reporting and tax preparation.

Raycom Media, Inc recruited him as their television station controller for WTVM-TV in Columbus, GA.  In this capacity, Steve was responsible for the station's financial reporting and controls which included budgeting, financial reporting, AR/AP, and payroll.  It was in this position that Steve began adding sales, marketing and event management to his experience.  While at Raycom Media, Harrelson was promoted to Chief Financial Officer of the sports marketing/television production subsidiary entitled Raycom Sports.  This promotion required a move to Charlotte, NC to the company's headquarters.  While serving as CFO, Harrelson continued to expand his sales and marketing base.  He was very instrumental in bringing the first ever college post season bowl game to Charlotte, NC.  The inaugural Continental Tire bowl was a sell out at Bank of America Stadium.  This experience provided him the opportunity to become the Tournament Director for the LPGA Tournament of Champions and Vice Presidents of Events for Raycom Sports' new office in Mobile, AL.

Steve's tenure as Tournament Director of an LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) event allowed him first-hand experience in developing new marketing concepts, sponsorship opportunities and fresh sales approaches which ultimately led to client satisfaction and company success.

Harrelson co-founded HM Companies in order to meet the needs of clients in all areas served by HM Companies and its subsidiaries.  Steve's wealth of experience, in a number of different settings, allows him to pull from a broad base of knowledge as he serves his clients.  He routinely uses traditional as well as non-traditional means to accomplish the marketing objectives of his clients.
